Decatur
Anderson Cemetery,
36th Street:
This
cemetery is the final resting place for of the
Morris Family. Ester who was with child was murdered, along with her
husband Charles, in their mansion on September 28, 1879. Local legend says
that if you venture to the cemetery on the anniversary of the murder you can
see Ester and her husband Charles next to their grave marker. The marker is
the only pillar stone under the only evergreen trees in the center of the
cemetery.
To this date there is no known motive for the murder. Over 100 dollars and two gold watches were left untouched in the bedroom and only a horse used in the getaway was stolen.
